Why convert AVIF to SVG?
AVIF is the newest mainstream image format, built on the AV1 video codec. It produces the smallest files of any common format and supports HDR and wide color gamuts, so performance-focused sites and image CDNs serve it aggressively. But adoption outside the browser lags badly — most desktop editors, office suites, and CMS upload pipelines still reject .avif files outright.
This converter decodes the AVIF image and traces it into standard SVG paths that open in modern design and development tools. Transparency is currently flattened, and HDR content is rendered into standard display colors during conversion.
Because AVIF is often used for photographic content, High density mode with a full 64-color palette usually gives the most faithful result. For flat graphics that happened to be delivered as AVIF, a reduced palette produces a cleaner, lighter vector-style file. For animated AVIF files, the first frame is converted.
